Pioneering Resilient Infrastructure for Nepal
Established by distinguished infrastructure leaders and former national executives, NRIPC is Nepal’s premier non-partisan centre bridging scientific research, policy advisory, and multi-sector engineering execution.
Built on Decades of National Leadership & Evidence
The origin of the Nepal Resilient Infrastructure Promotion Centre (NRIPC) stems from the collective realization of seasoned engineering executives, policy researchers, and academic leaders associated with the Nepal Transport Development Research Centre (NTDRC) and Nepal Engineering College (NEC).
Following catastrophic natural events—including the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, severe mountain landslides, and intensifying flash floods—Nepal required a unified, multidisciplinary institution capable of translating disaster recovery learnings into enduring public policy and engineering standards.
Institutional Purpose
To serve as Nepal’s most dependable intellectual and technical reservoir, advising public agencies, development partners, and technical practitioners on creating infrastructure that withstands geophysical hazards and changing climate regimes.
Vision, Mission & Values
Guiding our multidisciplinary research, policy dialogues, and engineering advisory.
Our Vision
A connected, equitable, and resilient Nepal where every piece of public and private infrastructure is designed to endure natural hazards, support green economic growth, and serve generations of citizens reliably.
Our Mission
To accelerate evidence-based policy formulation, pioneer resilient engineering methodologies, upgrade institutional capacities across federal tiers, and facilitate strategic collaboration between government, academia, and global partners.
Non-Partisan Objectivity
Providing independent, rigorous technical evaluations free from commercial or political bias.
Scientific Methodology
Anchoring every recommendation in empirical data, geotechnical analysis, and spatial modeling.
Context-Specific Solutions
Tailoring global best practices to Nepal's fragile Himalayan topography, seismic zones, and hydrology.
Sustainable Capacity
Upskilling municipal and provincial engineering cadres through hands-on technical masterclasses.
The Four Strategic Pillars of NRIPC
How our multidisciplinary teams deliver measurable impact across Nepal's infrastructure landscape.
Evidence-Based Policy & Master Planning
Formulating national and provincial transport master plans, road classification standards, and public infrastructure investment guidelines backed by rigorous empirical modeling.
- National Transport Master Plan formulation
- Provincial Road Master Plans (PRMPs)
- Procurement & FIDIC Contract frameworks
Disaster Recovery & Mountain Engineering
Developing slope stabilization manuals, bio-engineering protocols, and seismic retrofitting standards tested in post-2015 earthquake reconstruction programs across 32 districts.
- Seismic & geohazard risk mapping
- Mountain road slope stabilization
- Bridge structural integrity diagnostics
Climate Adaptation & Sustainable Drainage
Integrating nature-based drainage solutions, climate-proofing guidelines for trans-Himalayan corridors, and low-carbon materials into municipal urban infrastructure schemes.
- Hydrological flash-flood modeling
- Green infrastructure & bio-engineering
- Climate risk screening metrics
Institutional & Human Capacity Building
Delivering executive training programs for public engineers, e-GP procurement masterclasses, and laboratory testing protocols to empower Nepal’s 753 local municipal governments.
- Public Procurement (e-GP) certification
- Road safety audit masterclasses
- Material testing & QA/QC workshops
Guaranteed Institutional Neutrality
As an independent non-governmental think tank and technical centre, NRIPC operates under strict conflict-of-interest firewalls. We provide objective advisory to government agencies, multilateral development banks, and international research organizations.
Our governing board comprises senior fellows, former Secretaries of the Government of Nepal, and emeritus professors, ensuring high scientific integrity in every published study and technical evaluation.
